Farmed Animals

Farmed animals are the most exploited and least protected group of animals in the world.

In the US, according to the United States Department of Agriculture 9.76 billion land animals were slaughtered in 2020.   This means over 18,000 land animals are killed each minute.

Chickens: 9,346,660,000

Turkeys: 223,003,000

Cattle (including calves): 33,242,000

Pigs: 131,563,000

Ducks: 22,484,000

Sheep (including lambs): 2,225,000

What were once small family farms, has now evolved into enormous corporate factory farming, where increased profit margins are the focus, not the billions of intelligent animals, capable of feeling fear and pain, and endlessly suffering just so humans can eat meat.

From the moment they are born until they are slaughtered, farmed animals lead a life of unimaginable misery. They are deprived the basic necessities and to act on their natural behaviors.  They are cruelly mis-handled, kept in unsanitary, over-crowded conditions, and endure painful mutilation as a part of routine husbandry.  In addition, the filthy, confined conditions, that lead to the spread of food borne illness that can be transferred to humans, is increased by these huge factory farms.

We encourage you to explore plant-based eating, and take the time to research and educate yourself on the detrimental effects of eating meat, the animals being exploited and the negative impact on the environment.

While there are many problems and issues in the world today which can make us feel powerless, there is one that we do have the power to change by simply taking meat off your plate.

Remember, the food at the end of your fork can help make changes for billions of animals -- and the environment.
